Blussans

Blussans is a commune in the French department Doubs in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Blussans is located on 295 m, 3 km southeast of L' Isle- sur -le- Doubs and about 17 km southwest of the town of Montbéliard (air line). The village is located on the southern edge of the broad Talniederung of the Doubs, both sides of the Ruisseau des Combes, on the northern edge of the outermost ridges of the Jura.

The area of ​​8:04 km ² municipal area comprises a portion of Doubstals. The northern boundary runs along the Doubs, the multiple turns in a about one kilometer wide flat Talniederung here flows to the west and is accompanied by the waterways of the Rhine- Rhone Canal. From the river, the municipality's area extends southward over the flood plain and a 50 m high, steep slope to impact on the adjacent plateau (350 m). It includes the entire catchment area of ​​the Ruisseau des Combes, which rises with several spring-fed streams in the forest area of the Bois de Miémont. With 482 m of Lomont is achieved the highest elevation of Blussans in the hilly area at the northern foot.

History

Is first mentioned Blussans in 1136 under the name Brucens, as the place in the possession of the monastery came Lieucroissant ( at Mancenans ). Over time, the spelling on Blucens ( 1147 ), Blusseans (1326), Blossens (15th century), Bleussance ( 1547) and Bleu Sans changed to the present name, which is 1542 for the first time preserved. 1258 sold the Abbot of Lieucroissant part of the territory to the Lords of Neuchâtel, henceforth belonged to the rule of L' Isle- sur -le- Doubs. The other part was under the rule since 1282 Châtelot and went with this in 1561 under the suzerainty of the Counts of Montbéliard. Today Blussans is part of the municipal association Communauté de communes des Isles du Doubs.

Attractions

The church of Saint - Léger, built in the 18th century. From a former seat of power only a few ruins remain. The village is characterized by different farmhouses in the characteristic style of the Franche -Comté from the 17th to 19th centuries.

Population

With 189 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Blussans one of the small communities of the department of Doubs. After the population had decreased in the first half of the 20th century (1891 237 persons were still counted ), a population growth was recorded during the 1960s and 70s again. Since then the company overall but again declined.

Economy and infrastructure
