Geography

The municipality is located in the heart of the Regional Natural Park of Luberon on the plateau of Claparèdes which extends between the northern flank of the Cretaceous Luberon Mountains and the resulting tertiary valley of Calavon. Across the municipal area flows the Aigue Brun - the only permanent water-bearing river in the Luberon. He serves as the sole outflow of Claparèdes and has dug over time between the Grand and Petit Luberon Durance a ravine to the south. At its headwaters, in the field of Buoux, the river valley is dotted with high rock walls and scattered individual rocky peaks that are especially interesting for climbers. The high rugged rock walls have a moist, cool climate and offer a unique Provencal flora that are otherwise only found in temperate or cold regions.
