The original settlement site was located on the Oak Hill Le Castelas and was abandoned in the 15th century. Archaeologists managed to recover the remains of a medieval Motte built on a rock and a burnt down in the 16th century castle. The reconstruction of the village was close to flat terrain. As in the neighboring village of La Motte- d'Aigues several families were settled from the surrounding villages by a decree of 1506, each was assigned a plot of land of the same size.
