Carlos Mendes (singer)

Carlos Eduardo Teixeira Mendes (* May 23, 1947 in Lisbon ) is a Portuguese singer and actor.

In 1963 he was co-founder of Beat Band Sheiks. He left the group in 1967 to launch a solo career. After each won preselection at the Festival da Canção he was allowed to compete twice in the Euro Vision Song Contest: The competition in 1968, he came up with the hit Verão to an eleventh place in the competition in 1972, he reached A festa da vida seventh place.

Along with Fernando Tordo and Paulo de Carvalho 1975, he founded the independent record label Toma Lá disco.

In the 2000s, he was next to his music also active as an actor and has appeared in some Portuguese television series.
