Portugal in the Eurovision Song Contest

This article deals with the history of Portugal as a participant in the Euro Vision Song Contest.

Regularity of participation

Portugal takes regularly part in the competition since 1964. Only to the competitions in 1970, 2000, 2002 and 2013, there was no Portuguese contribution. 1970 was not taken as a protest against the scoring system in part, in 2000 you could due to poor previous placements do not submit a contribution and in 2002 renounced Portugal voluntarily participate. 2013 Portugal renounced because of financial difficulties to participate in the competition.

Success in competition

Until 1970

1970-1990
