Armenia in the Eurovision Song Contest

This article deals with the history of Armenia as participants in the Euro Vision Song Contest.

Regularity of participation and success in competition

The national broadcaster ARMTV is a member of the European Broadcasting Union. Armenia started in 2006 for the first time at the Euro Vision Song Contest. Andre reached after a sixth place in the semifinals in the final round in eighth place. The following year, 2007, tied the singer Hayko with an eighth-place finish on this success. 2008 Siruscho occupied in the first of two semi-finals in second place and qualified for the finals, where she achieved the best result of Armenia with fourth place. Inga & Anusch 2009 reached only a 10th place in the final, after a 5th place in the semi-finals.

On March 7, 2012 Armenia withdrew its participation in the ESC 2012 back for political reasons.

Since the debut of Armenia received until 2010 exclusively placements in the top ten in the final, but this was interrupted by the departure in the semifinals in 2011 and Emmy Boom Boom, and by the 18th place of the Dorians, and Lonely Planet 2013. However, Armenia has 5 top 10 rankings of the most successful countries since the introduction of the semi-finals in 2004.

Languages

Without Your Love 2006 Apricot Stone 2010, Boom Boom 2011, Lonely Planet 2013 and Not Alone 2014 were the previous posts that were sung entirely in English. At Anytime You Need the last chorus was sung in Armenian. Qele Qele had besides the Armenian title an introduction to the national language. 2009 Nor par was sung (Jan jan ) mostly in Armenian, but partly also in English.

National preliminary decisions

At its debut in 2006, André was chosen internally by the transmitter AMPTV to represent the country. 2007, a preliminary round was held for the first time, which extended over two semifinals with ten posts and a finale with seven posts.
