Castagnaro

Castagnaro is a Northeast Italian municipality ( comune ) with 3878 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the Province of Verona in the Veneto region. The municipality is situated approximately 48.5 kilometers south-east of Verona on the Adige and directly borders the province of Rovigo.

History

In March 1387 it came in Castagnaro the same battle between the troops of Verona and Padua, which was won by Padua. The battle was fought almost exclusively by mercenaries, known as condottieri.

Traffic

The community is a station on the railway line from Verona to Rovigo. By Castagnaro shall also undertake the Strada Statale 434 Transpolesana approximately parallel to the railway line.
