Chennevières-sur-Marne

Chennevières -sur -Marne is a commune with 17,963 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Val -de- Marne in the Île- de -France region; it belongs to Arrondissement Nogent -sur -Marne and is the capital (Chef -lieu ) of the Canton of Chennevières -sur- Marne.

Chennevières -sur -Marne is located in the Paris Basin between Champigny -sur -Marne in the north, Le Plessis- Trévise to the east, La Queue -en- Brie in the southeast, Ormesson -sur -Marne to the south and Saint- Maur- des-Fosses in West, on the east bank of the river Marne.

History

While a settlement in the fertile valley of the Marne already for the Neolithic period, 7000 years BC. Detected, the first historical testimony of the church today the mention 1170 as Canevaria at the gates of Paris. The church of Saint -Pierre was built in 1260.
