Ormesson-sur-Marne

Ormesson -sur -Marne is a commune with 9921 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Val -de- Marne in the Île- de -France region. It is the administrative seat of the eponymous canton Ormesson -sur -Marne and belongs to Arrondissement Nogent -sur- Marne.

Geography

The community is located 13 kilometers southeast of Paris. Neighboring communities of Ormesson -sur -Marne are Chennevières -sur -Marne in the north, La Queue -en- Brie in the east, Noiseau and Sucy -en- Brie in the south and in the northwest, on the other side of the Marne, the city of Saint- Maur -des -Fosses. Through the municipal area flows the Morbras and flows into the Marne.

History

The place was called up to the 18th century Amboile. In the 12th century, the name was first mentioned. 1632 André Le Fèvre d' Ormesson landlord was and since 1758 the place was called Ormesson. The Prussians destroyed Ormesson during the Franco-German War 1870 part. Since 1927, the church is called Ormesson -sur- Marne. They became part of the newly formed department of Val -de- Marne in 1968, having previously part of Seine- et- Oise since 1790. In 1984 she became the seat of the canton Ormesson -sur- Marne.

Culture and sights

The Ormesson castle was built in 1580 and expanded several times. Since 1893 it is a monument historique. The Catholic Church of Our Lady dates from 1764.

The Cultural Center is located in a two acre park. The municipal park on Morbras is 3.5 acres in size. Furthermore, there is in Ormesson -sur -Marne, a sports field, two sports halls, and a golf course.

Through the site, the Department of Roads 33 and 185 result in the northeast, the National road runs 4 (Paris- Strasbourg). The nearest train station is in Sucy -en- Brie.

Ormesson -sur -Marne has a library, three preschools, three elementary schools and the Collège Saint- Exupéry. A high school there in the neighboring Chennevières -sur- Marne.
