Christopher Tanev
Christopher Tanev ( born December 20, 1989 in Toronto, Ontario ) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player standing since 2010 with the Vancouver Canucks of the National Hockey League under contract and in parallel for their farm team, the Manitoba Moose, playing in the American Hockey League. Tanev was not selected in the NHL Entry Draft, but committed by the Canucks as a free agent. Considered as one of the defenders could quickly make a name for the Manitoba Moose, the farm team of the Canucks.
Personal
Christopher Tanev was born on 20 December 1989 in East York, the son of Mike Tanev and Sophie Meredith. He has two brothers, Brandon and Kyle. Due to his previous small size (less than 1.60 meters ) to professional youth teams were afraid to oblige him. As a result, the defender played for some time roller hockey. Tanev made his high school diploma at the East York Collegiate Institute.
Career
Early years
Tanev played before he came to the Rochester Institute of Technology Tigers for three seasons in the Ontario Provincial Junior Hockey League ( OPJHL ). He began his career at the Durham Fury in the season 2006/ 07, but in which he was able to collect nine assists in 40 games no goals for it. The next season the defender spent with several teams: Durham Fury, Stouffville Spirit and the Markham Waxers. He succeeded in this season, 17 points ( two goals and 15 assists ) in 49 games contribute for his team. In the 2008 /09 season Tanev played with the Waxers as an assistant captain and led this season all the defenders in the league in points scorer at ( 41 points in 50 games).
Vancouver Canucks
Dave Gagner, who was in the youth of Tanev the coach of his roller hockey team became aware at an NCAA tournament on Christopher Tanev. Gagner reported to the competent Scout of the Vancouver Canucks, Stan Smyl, by his positive impressions. On 31 March 2010, the Vancouver Canucks committed the defender as ungedrafteten free agent.
