Clayton R. Lusk

Clayton Riley Lusk ( born December 26, 1872 in Lisle, Broome County, New York, † February 1959 ) was an American lawyer and politician ( Republican).

Career

Clayton Riley Lusk graduated with a Bachelor of Laws ( LL.B. ) at Cornell University Law School and was admitted to the bar in 1902.

Lusk decided to pursue a career in politics when he successfully ran for the Cortland County for a seat in the Senate from New York in 1918. He had 1919-1920 to preside over the Joint Legislative Committee to Investigate Seditious Activities, which was better known as the Lusk Committee. It consisted of four senators and five representatives.

Lusk was 1921 and 1922 Majority Leader ( Majority Leader ) in the Senate from New York. On September 26, 1922 after the resignation of Vice- Governor Jeremiah Wood, who was appointed as a judge at the Administrative Court of New York, Lusk was appointed president pro tempore and was until the end of the year, Acting Lieutenant Governor of New York. At the end of his third term, a study was initiated, which should clarify the suspicion that if he accepted donations for the support or rejection of certain laws.
