Cussey-sur-Lison

Cussey -sur- Lison is a commune in the French department Doubs in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Cussey -sur- Lison is located at 320 m above sea level. M., about 20 km south-southwest of the city of Besançon ( straight line ). The farming village extends in the Jura, in a hollow on either side of the creek Goulue, west of the valley of Lison.

The area of ​​5.66 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the French Jura. The central part of the area occupied by the hollow of the Cussey. It has a length of two kilometers, and a width of one kilometer ( at Taloberkante ) and is drained by the Goulue. On three sides of the steep valley slopes are about 130 meters high and crowned at the top of limestone cliffs. The municipal area extends to the mostly forested plateau, in the valley of Cussey is sunk. Here is 478 meters above sea level. M. reached the highest elevation of Cussey -sur- Lison. To the east, opens the valley floor to the valley of Lison, whereby a part of the eastern Talhangs still belongs to Cussey -sur- Lison.

Neighboring communities of Cussey -sur- Lison are Goux -sous- lands and Rouhe in the north, Châtillon -sur- Lison and Lizine in the east, the south and Échay Point Villers in the West.

History

In the Middle Ages Cussey belonged to the rule Châtillon -sur- Lison. Together with the Franche -Comté reached the village with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 to France.

Attractions

The single village church of Cussey -sur- Lison was built in the 12th century in the Romanesque style and has since changed little. The old town is characterized by different farmhouses in the characteristic style of the Franche -Comté from the 17th to 19th centuries. About the Lison performs a stone bridge dating from the 18th century.

Population

With 61 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Cussey -sur- Lison is one of the smallest municipalities of the department of Doubs. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1881 127 people were still counted ), relatively strong population growth was recorded on a small scale since the early 1990s again.

Economy and infrastructure

Cussey -sur- Lison was until well into the 20th century a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards and livestock ) and forestry embossed village. In addition, there are today some of the local small business enterprises. Many workers are also commuters who engage in the larger towns in the vicinity of their work.

The village is located off the major thoroughfares on a secondary road that leads from Épeugney by Salins- les- Bains.
