Lavans-Quingey

Lavans- Quingey is a commune in the French department Doubs in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Lavans- Quingey is located at 265 m, near Quingey, about 20 km southwest of the city of Besançon (air line). The village is located in the western Jura, east of Loue in a valley widening between the heights of the Côte de Moini in the west and the Bois du lands in the east.

The area of ​​5.90 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the western French Jura. The area bounded on the west by the Loue. It flows here in tortuous course to the south by a broad basin, which is surrounded by the outermost ridges of the Jura. From the river, the municipality's area extends eastwards across the flat alluvial plain and the adjacent corrugated Hügelfußzone which is consisted partly of meadow land, partly by forest. In the far east the area extends to the wooded ridge of the Bois du lands, which belongs to a chain of the Jura, the north stretches from Mont Poupet to the flow loop of the Loue. Here the highest elevation of Lavans- Quingey is achieved with 521 m.

Neighboring communities of Lavans- Quingey are Quingey and Cessey in the north, Palantine and Goux -sous- lands in the east, Pessans in the South and Lombard in the West.

History

Since the Middle Ages Lavans belonged to the rule and castellany Quingey. Together with the Franche -Comté reached the village with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 to France.

Population

With 194 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Lavans- Quingey is one of the smallest municipalities of the department of Doubs. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1886 206 persons were still counted ), a slight population growth was recorded since the early 1990s again.

Economy and infrastructure

Lavans- Quingey was until well into the 20th century a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards and livestock ) and forestry embossed village.
