Montfort (Doubs)

Montfort is a commune in the French department Doubs in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Montfort is located at 330 m, south of Quingey, about 23 km south-southwest of the city of Besançon ( straight line ). The village is located in the western Jura, north of the valley of Bief de Caille and east of Loue at the foot of Bois du Fay.

The area of ​​2.80 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the western French Jura. The western part of the area is occupied by a plateau-like hill at the foot of the Bois du Fay. This hill descends towards the west the wide basin of the Loue, which is framed by the outermost ridges of the Jura. Slightly sunk into this plateau is the trough of the stream Bief de Caille, runs along the southern border. To the east, the municipality's area extends over a steep slope on the wooded ridge of the Bois du Fay, who belongs to a chain of the Jura, the north stretches from Mont Poupet to the flow loop of the Loue. History
