Mesmay

Mesmay is a commune in the French department Doubs in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Mesmay is located at 275 m above sea level, south of Quingey, about 24 km southwest of the city of Besançon (air line). The village is located in the western Jura, on the western edge of a basin of Loue between the heights of Chataillon in the west and the Bois du lands in the east.

The area of ​​3.11 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the western French Jura. The boundaries of the area to the east by the Loue. It flows south through here a wide basin, which is surrounded by the outermost ridges of the Jura. From the river, the municipality's area extends westward across the flat alluvial plain to the adjacent, predominantly forested ridge of Chataillon and Bois du Peu. Population

With 71 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Mesmay is one of the smallest municipalities of the department of Doubs. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1881 159 persons were still counted ), only relatively small fluctuations were recorded since the early 1960s.

Economy and infrastructure
