Bartherans

Bartherans is a commune in the French department Doubs in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Bartherans is located on 455 m above sea level. M., 23 km south-southwest of the city of Besançon ( straight line ). The farming village extends in the Jura, on a plateau between the valley of Lison the east and the Bois du Fay in the West.

The area of ​​5.81 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the French Jura. The central part of the area is occupied by the plateau of Bartherans that on average 450 meters above sea level. History

In the Middle Ages Bartherans belonged to the rule Montfort; In the 17th century it came to the Mouret of Châtillon. Together with the Franche -Comté reached the village with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 to France.

Attractions

The village church of Bartherans was built in the 19th century. From 1660 comes the " Château ", which belonged to Mouret.

Population

With 47 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Bartherans is one of the smallest municipalities of the department of Doubs. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1881 141 persons were still counted ), only small fluctuations were recorded since the early 1970s.
