Pointvillers

Point Villers is a municipality in the French department of Doubs in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Point Villers is located at 330 m, south of Quingey, some 22 km south-southwest of the city of Besançon ( straight line ). The village is located in the western Jura, on a plateau-like hill east of Loue at the foot of Bois du lands.

The area of ​​3.81 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the western French Jura. The western part of the area is occupied by the plateau of Villers Point, which lies in a broad basin between the outermost ridges of the Jura to about 330 m. It is mainly consisted of meadow land. To the east, the municipality's area extends over a steep slope on the wooded ridge of the Bois du lands, which belongs to a chain of the Jura, the north stretches from Mont Poupet to the flow loop of the Loue. Here the highest elevation of Point Villers is achieved with 564 m. A small proportion of the area is located on the east adjoining the ridge plateau (450 m).

Neighboring communities of Point Villers Pessans are in the north, Goux -sous- lands and Cussey -sur- Lison in the east and Échay and Montfort in the south.

History

In the Middle Ages Points Villers belonged to the lords of Montfort and Château Vieux. Together with the Franche -Comté reached the village with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 to France.

Population

With 135 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Point Villers is one of the smallest municipalities of the department of Doubs. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1891 180 people were still counted ), a slight population growth was recorded since the early 1980s again.

Economy and infrastructure

Point Villers was well into the 20th century, a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards, vineyards and livestock ) and forestry embossed village. In addition, there are today some of the local small business enterprises. Meanwhile, the village has also changed into a residential community. Many workers are commuters who engage in the larger towns in the vicinity of their work.

The village is located off the major thoroughfares, but is easily accessible from the main road N83, which runs from Besançon Lons -le- Saunier. Another road connection with Montfort.
