Drummondville Voltigeurs
The Voltigeurs de Drummondville ( Drummondville Voltigeurs English ) are an ice hockey team in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League with home in Drummondville in Quebec, Canada.
History
Drummondville had already establishing the QMJHL 1969 Hockey Team: Drummondville Rangers, which ceased its operation, however game in 1973. Nine years later, exactly on January 16, 1982, the town was assigned a new franchise.
Naming
In February 1982, the team management made a public call for tenders regarding the naming. Four rules should be followed: The name had to be French, have a connection with Drummondville, could also start with the letter " D" and had to refer to a historical event in the city's history.
350 proposals have been made, most were " Dauphin ", " Dynamiques " and " Dragons " one. However, the leaders decided finally for the name " Voltigeurs " voted for the 21 submissions.
The regiment of General Frederick George Heriot fought in 1812 against the Americans in Ontario. After the war, the regiment was relieved and supplies the veterans by the government with the country from which 1815 was the settlement of Drummondville.

Achievements
The Voltigeurs were allowed to participate as hosts in 1988 and 1991 as vice - champion of the QMJHL at the Memorial Cup and reached the finals in their second appearance, where they lost to the Spokane Chiefs. 2009 won Drummondville with a 4-3 victory over the Shawinigan Cataractes de in the QMJHL Finals for the first time the Coupe du Président and participated for the third time at the Memorial Cup tournament. For their 345 goals in the regular season the team was awarded the Trophée Luc Robitaille.
