Foggia Calcio

Foggia Calcio is an Italian football club from the Apulian town of Foggia.

History

U.S. Foggia was founded in 1920 as Foggia Calcio. In the early days the club played unterklassig.

First time in 1964 succeeded in promotion to Serie A, where you spent three seasons. After the descent, the fans waited until 1970 to first-class football until the club managed as runner-up of the series B to return to the top flight. The club was in due course to the lift team, because it was followed by the direct relegated again, but managed to rise again in 1973. With only 18 points U.S. Foggia rose again directly again from 1976 again reached the summit.

End of the season 1977/78 was the renewed decline in Serie B, the following year was made for U.S. Foggia the crash in the third division. However, managed as a table runner of Girone B of the immediate resurgence. 1983 were relegated again in the third league team.

1989 managed U.S. Foggia return to Serie B, 1991 when the team as a champion of the second division in the Serie A back. By 1995 the team was top notch. After relegation from the Serie B in 1998, the direct walkover followed in the fourth league. After four years, the return to Serie C1 succeeded. After the club until 2012 was consistently active in the third- highest division, followed by financial reasons, the exclusion from all professional leagues and the classification for the 2012/13 season in the fifth rate series D. There, the club went under the name of ACD Foggia Calcio, missed, however, due to a defeat in the final of the Promotion Playoffs first on sporty way to return to professional work.

As Foggia Calcio Srl put the club in July 2013 successfully apply for listing of the 2013/14 season in Lega Pro Seconda Divisione fourth-rate.
