Freestyle skiing at the 2006 Winter Olympics

In the XX. 2006 Winter Olympics will be held four competitions in freestyle skiing. The venue is Jouvenceaux in Sauze d'Oulx, 82 kilometers west of Turin. The capacity is 7,110 spectators.

There were 30 athletes from 15 nations at the start. All runners contested a qualification round, from which the top 20 qualified for the final. In the final, also a passage was conducted, where the points of the qualification have been excluded. Kari Traa won after bronze in Nagano in 1998 and gold four years later in Salt Lake City her third Olympic medal. Jennifer Heil had missed the bronze medal by 0.01 points in Salt Lake City. This time they won clearly. The reigning World Champion Hannah Kearney missed than 22 qualifying the final.

The competition had to be postponed due to heavy fog about a half hour.

The Australian Jacqui Cooper had set a new world record in qualifying, but fell in the final round.
