Gaiole in Chianti is a municipality with 2810 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the Province of Siena in the Italian region of Tuscany.

Geography

The municipality is situated approximately 40 km southeast of Florence and about 15 km northeast of Siena in the Chianti wine region and in the Chianti Classico. The site covers about 129 km ² and is located in the climatic classification of Italian communities in the zone D 1958 GR / G. In the southern municipality of Ambra river rises (5 km in the municipality ), also the municipal area of ​​the Arbia (6 km ) and the Torrente Massellone is traversed (12 km).
