Gary Wayne Zimmerman ( born December 13, 1961 in Fullerton, California) is an American former American football player. He played as an offensive tackle, among others, in the National Football League ( NFL ) for the Denver Broncos.

Playing career

College career

Gary Zimmerman has already played at the high school as a linebacker American Football. From 1980 to 1983 he studied at the University of Oregon, where he played as an offensive tackle on offense the Oregon Ducks. Because of his athletic achievements, he was elected to the All- American and participated in two select games.

Professional career

In 1984 he was drafted by the Los Angeles Express, a team that was based in the United States Football League ( USFL ). At the same time, the New York Giants secured from the NFL in the NFL Draft the rights to Zimmerman. Zimmerman played two years in Los Angeles, where he was responsible for protecting quarterback Steve Young. Since the USFL ceased the operation of gambling, Zimmerman moved after two years to the Minnesota Vikings. The Giants had a total of Zimmerman to the Vikings and has drawn on by the team from Minneapolis working with complimentary two draft picks. Zimmerman was able to move his team four times in the play-offs. In 1987, the Vikings lost in the NFC Championship game against the Washington Redskins at 17:10.

After the 1992 season, Zimmerman was given to the trained by Wade Phillips Denver Broncos. Zimmerman played on offense the Broncos led by John Elway. Two years later, Mike Shanahan took over as coach for the team from Denver. Shanahan succeeded from the Broncos to form a top team. Honors

Zimmerman was seven, eight times elected to the Pro Bowl for the All-Pro twice and the All- USFL team. He is a member of the NFL 1980s All- Decade Team, 1990s NFL All- Decade Team in the, in the USFL All- Time Team in the University of Oregon Hall of Fame and in 2008 into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. He is on a stadium band in Invesco Field at Mile High, home to the Broncos, honored.
