Etymology

The village name comes from a composition of Ger ( v. OHG ger " spear " ), because the place also caused similar saw topographically in its time of origin of this form, and well, after the fountain, which is near the town hall still active in Altort today.

History

Gerbrunn was first documented in 1107. As part of the Prince-Bishopric of Würzburg, which belonged to the Frankish Empire Circle, Gerbrunn was secularized in 1803 in Bavaria's favor, then the Peace of Pressburg (1805 ) Archduke Ferdinand of Tuscany left to form the Grand Duchy of Würzburg, with which it finally fell back to Bavaria in 1814.
