Gerolzhofen
Gerolzhofen is a city in the Lower Franconian district of Schweinfurt and office of the Management Community Gerolzhofen. The former county town is designated as a regional center. It sits on a Latvian - Keuper threshold between Main and Steigerwald and consists of the two districts Gerolzhofen and Rügshofen.

History
The settlement was first called Gerolzhofen 750-779 in a later copy (12th century) a deed of gift of the monastery of Fulda. As namesake applies the Udalrichinger Gerold II becoming a city of the fortified place in the second half of the 13th century comes from a Ebracher document in which he was mentioned in 1296 as oppidum forth. 1345 Gerolzhofen was first mentioned in the laying of a wine market of Dingolshausen as a city. Between 1500 and 1806 the city was in the Frankish Empire circle.
Witch trials in Gerolzhofen
Under the reign of the Würzburg Prince-Bishop Philipp Adolf von Ehrenberg than 900 people who were accused of witchcraft died. In Wurzburg Gerolzhofen was a main dish course. From 1615 to 1619 261 people were executed for witchcraft. Many died before their condemnation from the effects of torture in the witch's tower and cents prison.
At the time of witch hunts pyres were built to burn the most of those convicted in Gerolzhofen. At times, so many people were victims of the witch trials, that the economy was seriously compromised.
Municipal reorganization
During the municipal reorganization in Bavaria, the county Gerolzhofen was disbanded on 1 July 1972 and the city lost the status of a district town. On 1 January 1978, the neighboring village Rügshofen was incorporated as part of local government reform in Bavaria.

Church
Catholic parish church of Saint Mary of the Rosary and Holy Regiswindis, also called Steigerwalddom, built from 1436 to 1479 Interior Features:. Economy and infrastructure
Traffic
Through the federal highway 286 Gerolzhofen is crossing-free access to the motorways A 3 and A 70.
Gerolzhofen is connected by several public transport buses with the region and about 20 km from the main center of Schweinfurt. From Schweinfurt is connected to the rail passenger transport.
The railway line Kitzingen -Schweinfurt, located on the Gerolzhofen is only used occasionally for nostalgia trips.
An over -marked local cycle network is widely available. In Gerolzhofen even ride a bike due to the relatively flat topography and low traffic volume is possible without problems. The compact settlement area Gerolzhofens and the associated short distances favor the use of the bicycle as an everyday means of transportation.
