Heiligenschwendi

Heiligenschwendi is a municipality in the administrative district of Thun in the canton of Bern in Switzerland.

Geography

The village lies on the right bank of Lake Thun, on the western slope of the heavily wooded hill flower. The main settlements are Schwendihotel -village, Heiligenschwendi and holding. Of the total municipal area of ​​555 ha a little less than half ( exactly 48.8 %) is used for agriculture. Other 43.4% is covered by forest and woodland, and only 7.4 % settlement area.

Population

In early 2006, the municipality had 704 inhabitants. Of these, 600 ( = 87.65 %), Swiss nationals and 104 foreigners.

Tourism

The most important employer is the 1895 Berner opened rehab center Heiligenschwendi ( originally a tuberculosis sanatorium, and today rehabilitation clinic for pulmonary, cardiac and musculoskeletal diseases).

Traffic

The community is through the bus 31 (Thun - Goldiwil - Heiligenschwendi ) joined the STI to the public transport network and 32 ( Heiligenschwendi Thun - - Schwendihotel Doerfli ).
