Höhenland
The municipality is located in the district of country level Mark- Or Country (Brandenburg) and has about 1100 inhabitants. Height of land belongs to the so-called Freienwalder Barnim villages, since the place is on the Barnim plateau to the west of Bad Freiwalde.
The voluntary association of two communities Leuenberg and Steinbeck to the municipality level country took place on 1 May 2002. Forced Incorporation of the community Wölsickendorf - Wollenberg was by law with the local elections on 26 October 2003. Since then belong to the community Höhenland the three districts
- Leuenberg with 1847 ha,
- Steinbeck is 1378 ha,
- Wölsickendorf - Wollenberg with 1011 ha ( Wölsickendorf ) and 1146 ha ( Wollenberg ).
Structure
- Mountain lions has about 400 inhabitants and was founded in the 13th century by the Knights of Lowenberg. In the Middle Ages a manor belonged on the field mark the place for the possession of the Cistercian monastery Friedland. In 1432 the town was destroyed by the Hussites. Beginning of the 18th century sought a plague of locusts home the place. Two kilometers away, the railway station was put into operation in 1898.

- Wölsickendorf - Wollenberg: Wölsickendorf was first mentioned in 1375. Previously it was known as Welskendorp or Welsekendorf. The church, which was built in the mid 13th century, is in need of refurbishment and is now a listed building. On 1 October 1961, the city merged with Wollenberg.

In Leuenberg a train station, with the place from 1898 on the railway Wriezener with Berlin, Wriezen and the farther Konigsberg in Neumark is (now Chojna ) was connected. Since 1998, the section between Tiefensee and Wriezen, located on the mountain lions, no longer served. Since 2000 there is on the short section Tiefensee - Leuenberg star Beck the opportunity to take trips with a trolley so that the route - albeit sparse - for excursions will be used again.
