Horní Poříčí (Strakonice District)

Horni Poříčí ( German Upper Porschitsch ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located ten kilometers northwest Strakonic in South Bohemia and belongs to Okres Strakonice.

Geography

Horni Poříčí is located on the left bank of the Otava in the foothills of the Bohemian Forest. Below the village of Potok Brezový opens in the Otava. In the north, the Na Staňkově rises vršku (441 m), northeast of the Haj (535 m) and Černý vrch (495 m ), to the east the Kněží hora ( 493 m ) and to the west the river made Vrsky ( 481 m). North of the village takes you past the road I/22 between Horažďovice and Strakonice. East of the railway line runs České Budějovice, Plzeň, there is also the station Dolni Poříčí.

Neighboring towns are Zadnà Hoštice Střelskohoštická Lhota and Saddleback in the north, Mnichov in the northeast, Krty - Hradec and Dolni Poříčí in the east, Za Rekou and Katowice in the south east, Novosedly, Štechovice and Ovčín in the south, Kladruby, Zalesky, Kalenice, and Svatá Trojice in southwest, Na Vidrolce, Karlovce and Veřechov in the west and Boubín, Kozlov and Střelské Hoštice in the northwest.

History

In Poříčí there was probably already at the time of Celtic settlement a settlement of Goldseifnern. The first written mention of Poříčí occurred in 1315 Later the settlement was divided into two villages. Horni Poříčí was submissive by Prácheň, Dolni Poříčí belonged to Střelské Hoštice. After Bavors III. Strakonitz of the castle Prácheň ( Prachin ) had acquired, he united their possessions with those of the castle Strakonice. The childless William Bavors of Strakonitz wrote about in 1336 bequeathed the rule Strakonitz the Sovereign Order of Malta. Main source of income of both villages formed the agriculture, next to the fishing and pearling played a major role. In late autumn the salmon went up through the river to spawning grounds at the Vydra. In 1840 there was the location of the Klatt Straße village of Upper Poritsch and front Poritsch from 39 houses with 256 inhabitants. To place belonged to a Rustic Mill sawmill. After the abolition of patrimonial Horni Poric / upper Poric formed in 1850 a municipality in the district team Strakonice and the jurisdiction Horažďovice. Since 1880 Horni Poříčí is used as the official place name. Due to the decline of the Flussperlmuschelbestände the pearl fishery in 1908 has been set. The bridge over the Otava River was built in 1927. After the Second World War, the increasing contamination of the rivers led to the absence of salmon. In the 1960s, the freshwater pearl mussels had died out entirely. The traditional timber floating on the Otava was discontinued in the 1960s. In 1949 the parish was assigned to the newly created Okres Horažďovice, after its abolition in 1960 she came back to Okres Strakonice. 1964 Horni Poříčí was merged with the municipality of Dolni Poříčí Poříčí. On January 1, 1974, the annexation took place after Střelské Hoštice. After a referendum, Horni Poříčí and Dolni Poříčí dissolved on November 24 again in 1990 by Střelské Hoštice off and formed their own community. Not far from the Kubešův Mlýn is a training center of Charles University.
