Hyèvre-Magny

Hyèvre- Magny is a commune in the French department Doubs in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Hyèvre- Magny is located at 280 m, 6 km east of Baume- les -Dames and approximately 35 km east-northeast of the city of Besançon ( straight line ). The village is located in the Doubs Valley on the left southern side of the river in the gorge at the Breakthrough of the Doubs to the Jurassic - edge chain, the extreme northwestern chain system of the Jura Mountains.

The area of ​​3.41 km ² municipal area comprises a portion of Doubstals. The Doubs flows here with several turns by a usually around 500 m wide, flat alluvial plain to the west and at the same time forms the waterways of the Rhine- Rhone Canal. History

The municipal area of Hyèvre- Magny was a Gallo-Roman settlement site, which could be demonstrated by means of weapons and tool finds. In the Middle Ages Hyèvre belonged to the rule Clerval, which came under the suzerainty of the Counts of Montbéliard in the 14th century. Together with the Franche -Comté reached the village with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 definitively to France. Up to the time of the French Revolution Hyèvre- Magny and Hyèvre -Paroisse formed a single community. Since 2001 Hyèvre- Magny is part of the municipal association Communauté de communes du Pays Baumois.

Population

With 77 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Hyèvre- Magny one of the smallest municipalities in the department of Doubs. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1911 103 persons were still counted ), only small fluctuations were recorded since the early 1960s.

Economy and infrastructure

Hyèvre- Magny was well into the 20th century, a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards and livestock ) and forestry embossed village.
