Innerschwand

Innerschwand am Mondsee is a municipality in Upper Austria in Vöcklabruck district in Hausruckviertel with 1125 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013). The municipality is located in the judicial district Mondsee.

Geography

Innerschwand am Mondsee is located at 493 m altitude in the Salzkammergut. The expansion is 5.8 kilometers from north to south, from west to east 6.1 km. The total area is 18.9 km ². 51.3 % of the area is forested, 38.6 % of the area is used for agriculture. The municipality is crossed by the Wangauer Ache, which opens at Loibichl in Mondsee.

Coat of arms

Official description of the municipality coat of arms: from green and blue with a golden wave bar lowered divided; above a golden, right diagonal Asked ax, down a golden, open up crescent moon. The municipality colors are green - yellow-blue.

The ax in 1980 conferred municipal coat of arms symbolizes the place name from the word " Schwenden " ( = clear ) is derived. The crescent moon represents the location of the village on Lake Mondsee and the former belonging to the monastery of Mondsee.

History

Originally in the eastern part of the Duchy of Bavaria lying, the place belongs as the entire Mondseeland from 1506 to the Duchy of Austria. During the Napoleonic Wars, the place was occupied several times. Since 1918, the town belongs to the province of Upper Austria. After the annexation of Austria to the German Reich on 13 March 1938, the town belonged to the " Upper Danube ". After 1945 the restoration of Upper Austria. On 11 May 2007 the community was renamed in Innerschwand am Mondsee.

Mayor is Alois Daxinger of the ÖVP.

In 1991 the community had 903 inhabitants according to the census, in 2001 then 1050 inhabitants.
