Jason Lepine

Jason Lepine ( born March 26, 1985 in Cornwall, Ontario ) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player who plays for the Toledo Walleye in the ECHL since 2013.

Career

Jason Lepine began his career in 2003 at the Cornwall Colts in the Central Junior Hockey League. There he played until 2006, scoring 144 points as a defender in 160 games. For the 2006/07 season Lepine left his hometown Cornwall and signed his first professional contract with the Corpus Christi Rayz of the Central Hockey League. Next year he was there first contract, but moved shortly after start of the season to the Knoxville Ice Bears in the Southern Professional Hockey League. These included the regular season as the best points and team reached the finals of the playoffs. There Lepine was able to prevail with his team and win the President's Cup.

For the season 2008/ 09 he moved to the Bloomington PrairieThunder in the International Hockey League. However, Lepine was able to complete only 21 games. In addition, he made ​​his debut in the American Hockey League and played a game for the Rockford IceHogs. The next year he stayed injury free and scored in 74 games 44 points scorer, so he was the best point defender of his team. However, for the playoffs, the Bloomington PrairieThunder could not qualify. Towards the end of the season played Lepine with tryout contracts for the Peoria Rivermen and Albany River Rats in the AHL. But he received no AHL deals for next year, so he signed with the Bakersfield Condors of the ECHL for the season 2010/11. This transferred Lepine on 10 December 2010 to league rivals Toledo Walleye. There he performed well and was the top scoring defender of his team. After the season, he was elected Second All-Star team in the ECHL. In addition Lepine played again with tryout contracts with two teams in the AHL.

For the 2011/12 season Lepine moved to Europe and signed for HC Kladno of the Czech Extraliga. With his team he reached the ninth place after the regular season and retired after three defeats in the playoff qualification. Then he joined JYP Jyväskylä from the Finnish SM- liiga. There he showed at the beginning of the season and good performance was top scorer of his team at the European Trophy in 2012. Subsequently he fell after a few games in the SM- liiga due to an ankle injury from. Since his team with Rich Peverley and Lars Eller now two more foreign players committed, Lepine was used on his return only to Farm Team JYP- Akatemia in the subprime Mestis. On January 14, 2013, he joined the Iserlohn Roosters in the German Hockey League. With the Roosters he failed to qualify for the playoffs and did not receive a new contract offer. In September 2013, he coached twelve days at the Hartford Wolfpack of the AHL. This did not take him under contract and Lepine signed in October 2013 at the Toledo Walleye in the ECHL.
