The Jefferson Township is one of 18 townships in Stephenson County in the northwestern part of the U.S. state of Illinois.

Geography

The Jefferson Township is located north-west of Illinois, approximately 30 km south of the Wisconsin border. The Mississippi River, which forms the border with Iowa, is located around 35 km to the west.

The Jefferson Township is located at 42 ° 14'12 " north latitude and 89 ° 53'35 " west longitude and extending over 47.39 km ².

The Jefferson Township is located in the extreme southwest of Stephenson County and borders within which the north by the Kent Township and on the east by the Loran Township. In the south, the Township is adjacent to the Carroll and to the west by the Jo Daviess County.

Traffic

Through the township lead no highways. There are a number of minor routes that are unpaved for the most part.

The nearest airport is around 30 km west of the township located Albertus Airport in Freeport.

Population

In the census of 2010, the Township had 268 inhabitants. There are no settlements; the population lives scattered throughout the territory of the Township.
