The Lancaster Township is one of 18 townships in Stephenson County in the northwestern part of the U.S. state of Illinois.

Geography

The Lancaster Township is located north-west of Illinois, approximately 20 km south of the Wisconsin border. The Mississippi River, which forms the border with Iowa, is located about 70 km to the west.

The Lancaster Township is located at 42 ° 19'59 " north latitude and 89 ° 34'04 " west longitude and extending over 83.13 km ², spread over 82.87 km ² land and 0.26 km ² water surface. The southern boundary of the Township is predominantly formed by the coming of Wisconsin Pecatonica River, a tributary of the Rock River.

The Lancaster Township is located in the northeastern suburb area of the city of Freeport, the center of the entire region. The township is bounded on the northwest by the Buckeye Township, in the northeast on the Dakota Township, in the northeast on the Rock Run Township, to the southeast by the Ridott Township, on the south by Silver Creek Township, to the southwest by the city Freeport and to the west by the Harlem Township.

Traffic

Thanks to the southwest of the township leads U.S. Highway 20, which is the shortest route from Dubuque in Iowa to Rockford in Illinois. The highway is also the northern and north-eastern ring road of Freeport. The Illinois State Route 26, the northern arterial road from Freeport, also forms the western boundary of Lancaster Township. As northeastern exit road of the Freeport Illinois State Route 75 runs through the entire Township from southwest to northeast. All other roads are County Roads and more subordinate and partly unpaved roadways.

Directly located at the northern boundary of the Township to the Ronald K. Dominik Airport, a small airfield. A somewhat larger of around 10 km south-east of the township located Albertus Airport in Freeport.

Population

In the census in 2010, the township had 1587 inhabitants. The population lives in addition to scattered settlement in two settlements:
