Ken Berry (ice hockey)

Ken Edward Berry ( born June 21, 1960 in Burnaby, British Columbia ) is a retired Canadian ice hockey player ( left wing ), who from 1981 to 1993 for the Edmonton Oilers and the Vancouver Canucks of the National Hockey League as well as for the SV Bayreuth and the EC Hedos Munich played in the German Hockey League.

Career

Even as a junior he made with the New Westminster Bruins for stir. As top scorer in the youth team of the Bruins in the BCJHL you nominated him for the WHL junior team, which had qualified again as the defending champion for the Finals for the Memorial Cup. After the Olympics, the Vancouver Canucks secured NHL Entry Draft in 1980 in the fifth round when they selected him as 112. He played two years in the Central Hockey League for Wichita Wind and was at this time to the Edmonton Oilers. In the season 1981/82 he came to his NHL debut.

The Oilers at Wayne Gretzky were at that time, however, so strongly held that he could not prevail. He played in the AHL farm team of the Oilers, first at the Moncton Alpines, and later with the Nova Scotia Oilers.

For the Bundesliga season 1985/86 he followed his brother Doug to Germany, where he played one year for the SV Bayreuth. After relegation to the second league, he followed the call of the Canadian national team coach Dave King and played two years with the national team, preparing for the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary. Again, the Canadians were able to win a medal and again was the power of Berry, who reached six points in eight games, good.
