Khlong San District

Khlong San ( Thai คลองสาน ) is one of the 50 districts (Khet ) of Bangkok, capital of Thailand. Khlong San is located in the southern part of the city on the west bank of the Chao Phraya River, opposite the Chinatown.

Geography

Khlong San is in the north, bounded on the east and south by the Chao Phraya River, on the west by Khlong Bang Saikai, of the Somdet Phrachao Taksin Road and the Prachathipok Road.

The neighboring districts are from clockwise from the north: Phra Nakhon, Samphanthawong, Bang Rak, Sathon, Bang Kho Laem and, all located on the opposite side of the river, as well as Thonburi.

History

The name of the district of Khlong San changed the course of history: he was first called Amphoe Bang Lamphu Lang ( บางลำภู ล่าง ), it was later renamed to Amphoe Buppharam ( บุปผาราม ) and received its present name until 1916, when he part of the province ( Changwat ) Thonburi was.

In 1938 he was made a sub-district ( King Amphoe ), but was changed again in 1957 to a Amphoe due to population development. After the provinces Thonburi and Phra Nakhon went up in Bangkok, Khlong San was also part of the capital.

  • Wat Thong Thammachat ( วัด ทอง ธรรม ชาต ) - interesting wall paintings from the Rattanakosin period in ubosot, collection of beautiful Buddha statues in " viharn Yai " ( Great Assembly Hall )
  • Contains unusual door and window frames in ubosot, which featured murals of the Rattanakosin period - Wat Thong Nopphakhun ( วัด ทองนพคุณ )
  • Somdet Phra Srinagarindra Memorial Park (Princess Mother Memorial Park, อุทยาน สมเด็จ พระ ศรี น ค ริน ทร -. Smaller park in memory of Srinagarindra, the mother of King Bhumibol Adulyadej (Rama IX), is located near the Wat Anongkharam on Soi 3 Somdet Chao Phraya Road.
