In 1996, after the end of the partnership with Mazda, Kia entered into a supply agreement with Hyundai for the supply of engines. In addition to a redesigned dashboard, there was now the more modern smaller four-cylinder Hyundai diesel engines with more power. This made the 3.3 L 120 hp D4AL (88 kW ) and the 3.9 L 140 hp D4DA (103 kW). Following the merger of Kia and Hyundai 1999, the Asia sub-brand disappeared by 2000 and the model was now, as already previously in export markets, as Kia Power Combi offered. Due to stricter emissions standards in the domestic market for 2003, production of the Combi was terminated without a successor on 28 October 2002.
