Kirovske, Crimea

Kirowske (Ukrainian Кіровське; Russian Кировское / Kirowskoje, Crimean Tatar Islam Terek ) is an urban-type settlement and the administrative center of the homonymous Rajons in the east of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, Ukraine with about 7,000 inhabitants.

Geography

Kirowske lies to the east of the Crimea, the distance to Simferopol, capital city in the west of the Crimea, is 102 km.

History

The first mention of Islam - Director, later Isljam - Terek (Ukrainian Іслям - Терек ), the former name of the village, dates from 1783. In the 1840 years, a settlement of German colonists was founded on the local area, this was Neudorf mentioned.

Since 1892, the town has a railway station on the railway line Kherson Kerch, 1935, she became the center of Rajons and since 1957 the town has the status of an urban-type settlement.

After the occupation by German troops in 1941 during the second World War the town was retaken in 1944 and renamed the name in the course of Russifizierungsbemühungen in honor of the Soviet functionary Sergei Kirov in Mironovich Kirowske.

On the airfield south of the village ( location ) since 1995, the Ukrainian Falcons, the aerobatic team of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, stationed.
