Kolumbusplatz
Metro Station Columbus Square is a station of the Munich subway on the route of U1 and U2, and since 12 December 2011, the gain line U7, which only runs in the morning rush hour.
Exceptional are the three tracks: two tracks share a platform and serve the then running on a track lines U1 and U2 for the ride into town, so no delays at times arise in the tunnel. Another platform opens up the third track on which hold both subway lines as they travel out of town to then continue on separate lines or Mangfallplatz fair city east.
Location
Metro Station Columbus Square is located in Munich's Au district below the Kolumbusstraße rechts der Isar and runs in a north -south direction. Its southern end at the Plaza Colon is almost at the Munich railway Suedring Deutsche Bahn.

History
The three-pronged Metro Station Columbus Square was opened on 18 October 1980 and serves as the southern branch station of the underground lines U1 and U2, the disconnect here or meet again. It was not until 1997, the southern section of the U1 was opened, and the third track could be put into operation, but this was already realized in the construction of the station for this purpose.

To find orange wall panels made of Eternit plates on the walls of the platform hall, rounded angles. The columns were covered with green mosaic tiles. The floor was equipped with Isarkiesel art stones, facing the ceiling was made with aluminum fins. Illumination is provided by three continuous lines at the station ceiling. The furniture was made in the line color of the U2 (then U8) in carmine.
Both platforms were 1987 retrofitted with lifts to the surface, their elevator shafts were decorated inside with wall paintings.
