Krynychky Raion

The Rajon Krynytschky (Ukrainian Криничанський район / Krynytschanskyj raion; Russian Криничанский район / Krinitschanski rayon ) is an administrative unit, founded in 1923 within the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast in central Ukraine. The Rajon has an area of 1680 km ² and a population of about 36,000 inhabitants ( August 2013 ). The population density is 21 inhabitants per km ².

The administrative seat and largest town of the Rajons is the urban-type settlement Krynytschky. The village is located 40 km southwest of Oblasthauptstadt Dnipropetrovsk and 19 km south of the center of Dniprodserschynsk.

Geography

The Rajon located in the center of the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast on the right bank of the Dnieper River on the foothills of the Dneprhochlandes.

It is bordered to the north by Rajon Werchnjodniprowsk, in the north- east on the town Dniprodserschynsk, to the east by Rajon Dnipropetrovsk, on the southeast by the Rajon Solon in the southwest on the Rajon Sofijiwka and to the west by Rajon Pjatychatky.

The largest river in the region is bordered on the north by Rajon and accumulated to Dniprodserschynsker reservoir Dnepr. The largest rivers within the Rajon are the Basawluk and Mokra Sura, both tributaries of the Dnepr.
