List of Austrian composers
This list contains known composers to Austria.
Historically, it is only partially correct, here list only the German composer whose origin is the area of present-day Austria. One could also distinguish between German and foreign classical music composers, it would be worth using only the state name Austria, without questioning the nationality of composers.
In the historical context of today's Republic of Austria was only a small part of the territory of the Habsburg Empire, Austria and from Austria - Hungary, even if the Germans of the Habsburg monarchy, the German Austrians, the dominant population of the multiethnic state were. With Austrians alone the Germans, so the inhabitants of German mother tongue, were meant. In this sense, therefore, only the German Austrian composers are listed here that are as listed in the list German composer of classical music.
