Lomont-sur-Crête

Lomont -sur- Crête is a commune in the French department Doubs in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Lomont -sur- Crête is located at 520 m, 6 km east-southeast of Baume- les -Dames and 32 km east-northeast of the city of Besançon ( straight line ). The village is located in the Jura, in a promising position on a broad ridge, which belongs to the western foothills of Lomont south of Doubstals.

The area of ​​9.79 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the French Jura. The central part of the area is occupied by the ridge of the Lomont, which can be categorized into several hills and the west end in the Bois du Saussoi. With 568 m is reached on the hill west of the village is the highest elevation of Lomont -sur- Crête. In the north of the municipality extends down to the ground in the valley of Villers -Saint -Martin. On its southern side of the ridge, a plateau is upstream, the average is 460 m and is inclined slightly to the south. This area is mainly consisted of arable and meadow land, but also shows some of larger forest areas. The southern boundaries is usually marked by the southern edge of the plateau above the steep drop to the valley of Cusancin.

Neighboring communities of Lomont -sur- Crête are Villers -Saint- Martin, Hyèvre- Magnin and Roche -lès- Clerval in the north, Crosey -le- Petit in the east, the south and Cusance Guillon -les- Bains in the West.

History

In the Middle Ages Lomont belonged to the rule Passavant, which came under the suzerainty of the Counts of Montbéliard in the 14th century. Together with the Franche -Comté reached the village with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 to France. To avoid confusion with the homonymous municipality Lomont in the Haute -Saône, the place in 1923 was officially renamed Lomont -sur- Crête.

Attractions

The church of Saint -Martin- l'Évêque was built in 1805.

Population

With 164 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Lomont -sur- Crête is one of the small communities of the department of Doubs. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1886 246 persons were still counted ), a slight population growth was recorded since the early 1970s again.

Economy and infrastructure

Lomont -sur- Crête was until well into the 20th century a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards and livestock ) and forestry embossed village.
