Culture and sights

Its most famous attraction of the village is the pilgrimage church Maria Buch, the most important pilgrimage site in the upper Murtal and the oldest of Styria. Maria Buch was first mentioned as Fouche in the year 924 - the area was handed over by the Noble Hartwig and its related Archbishop Adalbert of Salzburg in the way of exchange. Quasi extraterritorial areas of the then very powerful Salzburg were not uncommon - even the mighty medieval town Friesach ( Carinthia ) belonged to the 19th century to Salzburg. Even today, the historical connectedness of Mary Book to Salzburg in place yet to be seen - so wearing the facade of the addition to the pilgrimage church built house of the metal operation Rohrich two outwardly turned, upside-down key - today (though not on upside down ) the sign of the 987 separated from the Archdiocese of Salzburg monastery of St. Peter at Salzburg. Maria Buch later fell to the Duke Berthold of Carinthia, who transferred it in 930 Eppensteiner the March Warden.
