Marsaxlokk [ marsaʃlɔk ] is a fishing village and an administrative unit in Malta with 3296 inhabitants (as of 31 December 2010). The name comes from the Arabic word for Marsa port and the Maltese word Xlokk, the south wind, together. It is located between the headland Delimara Point and Benghisa Point. In ancient times it was used by the Phoenicians and later the Romans as the main port. In 1565, the Turkish fleet was at the siege of Malta anchor here.

For tourists it is mainly for its brightly painted fishing boats ( Luzzus ) and held daily at the harbor promenade famous market. In its immediate vicinity is also the parish church of " Our Lady of Pompei ".

The football club FC Marsaxlokk played since 2002 in the Maltese Premier League and won in the 2006/07 season the championship. Over the 2009/10 season the club was excluded because of corruption from the Premier League and plays since then in the second-class First Division.

At Marsaxlokk, the management unit Birżebbuġa whose port Malta Freeport is due to its direct location on the main routes of Weltseegüterverkehrs (particularly the Asia-Europe traffic ) in recent years developed adjacent the third largest cargo port of the Mediterranean. The port is also called Port of Marsaxlokk and is connected by a fairway to the port of Marsaxlokk.

In Marsaxlokk is located outside the village of Malta's newest power plant, which went into operation in 1992 Delimara power plant.
