Mélecey

Mélecey, also written Mélecey, is a village in Haute -Saône in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Mélecey lies at an altitude of 300 m above sea level, 6 km southeast of Villers Exel and about 27 km east-southeast of the town of Vesoul (air line). The village is located in the valley of the Grand Ru on the northwestern edge of the hills, which stretches between the valleys of Ognon and Doubs, at the northwest foot of the moth de Grammont.

The area of ​​3.35 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the hills southeast of the Ognontals. The central part of the area is crossed from south to north from the valley of the Grand Ru, which also occurs north of the village in the plain of Villersexel. The creek provides drainage for Scey. The plane is mainly covered with forest ( Bois de Chenot ). In the south, the landscape is more in relief and enough of the surrounding heights and on the western slope of the moth de Grammont. History

In the Bois de Chenot traces of a Roman road traffic were discovered. In the Middle Ages Mélecey belonged to the Priory of Marast. Together with the Franche -Comté reached the village with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 definitively to France. In the 19th century salt deposits were mined here. Since 2000 Mélecey is a member of the 33- villages municipal association Communauté de communes du Pays de Villers Exel.

Population
