Michelbach (Haut-Rhin)
Michel Bach is a commune of 369 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Haut-Rhin in the Alsace region. It belongs to the district Thann, Thann to Canton and is a member of the Association of Municipalities Pays de Thann.
Geography
The municipality Michel Bach is located in the transition area between the Vosges and the Upper Rhine Plain, approximately 15 kilometers west of Mulhouse. In Michel Bach Dam Michel Bach ( Barrage de Michel Bach) was built in 1982. It covers 81 hectares and is used for drinking water supply of the Mulhouse region. In low-rainfall periods, water is withdrawn from the reservoir, in the rainy months, the lake is filled by an over head from the south flowing Doller.
Neighboring communities of Michel Bach are Aspach- le-Haut in the north, Unteraspach -le- Bas in the east, Guewenheim in the southwest and Roderen in the northwest.
