Sickert, Haut-Rhin

Sickert is a commune with 331 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ), in the Alsace Haut -Rhin. It belongs to the district Thann, to Canton Masevaux and community association Vallée de la Doller et Soultzbach.

Geography

The municipality is located in Sickert Doller valley in the Vosges and is part of the Regional Natural Park of Ballons des Vosges. The Doller forms the southern boundary of the municipality.

Neighboring communities of Sickert are Masevaux in the northeast, east and southeast, Niederbruck in the west and Kirchberg and Wegscheid in the northwest.

History

The name Sickert (derived from seep ) first appears in documents of the year 1482. At that time the village belonged to the Abbey of Masevaux.
