Monzambano

Monzambano (formerly Castellaro ) is a northern Italian municipality ( comune ) with 4838 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the province of Mantua in Lombardy. The municipality is situated approximately 26 kilometers north-northwest of Mantua Mincio and directly borders the provinces of Brescia and Verona. Monzambano is part of the Parco Regionale del Mincio.

Villages in the municipality ( fractions) are Castellaro Lagusello, Olfino and pill. In Castellaro Lagusello are the prehistoric lake dwellings, the Prehistoric pile dwellings are UNESCO World Heritage around the Alps.

Trivia

The named Samuel von Pufendorf Severinus de Monzambano under whose name he also published his constitution writing, is an invention of Pufendorf.
