MTS (network provider)
Mobile TeleSystems ( MTS) (Russian Мобильные ТелеСистемы (MTC ), ( Mobilnyje TeleSistemy (MTS ))) is the largest mobile operator in Russia and the rest of the CIS. He has over 100 million customers ( as of 2011).
History
Mobile TeleSystems was (47%) established in 1993 as a joint venture of the Moscow telephone company Moskovskaya Gorodskaja phone Well Set ( MGTS ), Russian Московская Городская Телефонная Сеть (53 %) and the German companies German Telekom and Siemens AG.
Between 2003 and 2005, the German Telekom sold your shares in MTS for an estimated € 3 billion as the official justification for the Group's required debt reduction was called. On September 14, 2007 Mobile TeleSystems acquired 80 % stake in VivaCell ( Armenia).
Shareholder
Mobile TeleSystems has been converted into a Russian joint stock company in 2000. MTS is listed on the New York Stock Exchange ( NYSE) and the Moscow Stock Exchange in the RTS index.
