Mueang Maha Sarakham District

Amphoe Mueang Maha Sarakham ( Thai: อำเภอ เมือง มหาสารคาม ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district ) in the province of Maha Sarakham. The Maha Sarakham Province is located in the northeast region of Thailand, the Isaan. The capital of the province of Maha Sarakham Maha Sarakham is also called.

Geography

Maha Sarakham is situated in the heart of Isan, in the midst of the Khorat Plateau. The distance to the capital Bangkok is about 450 kilometers.

Neighboring districts (from the south clockwise): Amphoe Kae Dam which, Wapi Pathum, Borabue, Kosum Phisai and Kantharawichai Maha Sarakham Province, Amphoe Khong Chai Kalasin Province and Amphoe Changhan, Mueang Roi Et and Si Somdet Province Roi Et

History

The district was in 1913 renamed from Mueang Maha Sarakham in Uthai Sarakham.

Education

In Amphoe Mueang Maha Sarakham is the Rajabhat Maha Sarakham University.

Management

Amphoe Mueang Maha Sarakham is divided into 14 communes ( tambon), which continues in 182 villages ( Muban ) are divided.

The city ( Mueang thesaban ) Maha Sarakham covers the whole tambon Talat.

The small town ( thesaban tambon) Waeng Nang consists of parts of the tambon Waeng Nang.

There are also 13 " Tambon Administrative Organizations" ( TAO - administrative units ).
