Music & Me

Music & Me is Michael Jackson's third solo album and was released in 1973 by Motown. Overall, it was sold four million copies worldwide. The album was recorded in 2009 as part of the compilation Hello World: The Motown Solo Collection publishes new.

Background

The album was released during a difficult phase of Jackson's career. This was at the time 14 years old. His voice began to change. In addition, the music landscape changed at the time. Inspired by other Motown artists such as Marvin Gaye and Stevie Wonder, Jackson wanted to publish his own compositions on the album. However, the label did not allow him this.

Although on the cover of the album a picture of Jackson is seen with an acoustic guitar, he plays no instrument on the album. Jackson later told his father Joseph Jackson his frustration. This worked on it later to terminate the contract of Michael and his brothers with Motown and negotiate a lucrative contract with Epic Records.

Following the publication it took two years before Michael Jackson 's next album Forever, Michael published, because his voice had become much more mature.

Charts

Since Jackson was then on a world tour with the Jackson 5, there was little promotion for the album. The Stevie Wonder cover "With a Child 's Heart", was released as a single in the U.S.. There it reached the 14th position on the Billboard R & B Singles chart and the 50th position in the American charts. Worldwide, approximately 341'000 pieces of the single were sold. In the U.S. there were approximately 174,000. Two other songs, including "Music and Me" and " Morning Glow " were released as singles in the UK. However, both did not manage to enter the Hitaparade.
