Geography

Geographical location

Neuried is located in the Upper Rhine Valley on the Rhine, and thus on the German- French border, almost exactly in the middle between Kehl and Lahr, a few kilometers south of Strasbourg.

Neighboring communities

The municipality is bordered to the north by the town of Kehl, on the east by Schutter forest and Hohberg, to the south frieze home and Meissen home and on the west by the Alsatian communities Plobsheim and Eschau.

Community structure

The community Neuried consists of the formerly independent communities retirement home, Dundenheim, Ichenheim, Müllen and Schutterzell. Today these form the districts of the municipality and at the same time places in the sense of the Baden-Württemberg municipal code, each with its own mayor and Ortschaftsrat as its chairman.

For the district of the village include nursing home retirement home, the homestead tube castle ( he mill) and the residential places Mühle Old Rhine and keeper's house. The hamlet Dundenheim include the village Dundenheim and the homestead Dundenheimer mill. The hamlet Ichenheim include the village Ichenheim, the homestead Ottenweierhof and the living space single dwelling house. For the district of the village heard Mullen Mullen. The hamlet Schutterzell the village Schutterzell and the homestead include mill. In the district nursing home was the castle Outbound Waseneck. In the district Dundenheim are the waste places Rode and Zellhof. In the district Ichenheim is the Outbound Burg Blankenstein moss and the deserted village Trudesheim.

History

Neuried arose in the course of the Baden-Württemberg district reform on 1 January 1973 by a voluntary merger of the formerly independent communities retirement home, Dundenheim, Ichenheim and Mullen. The community Schutterzell was incorporated into Ichenheim Already on 1 January 1972. The districts Nursing Home and Müllen belonged until 1973 to the district of Kehl, while Dundenheim, Ichenheim and Schutterzell belonged to the district of Lahr. With resolution of these two circles all parts of today's congregation came to the new Ortenaukreis.

Religions

In addition to two Protestant and Roman Catholic churches, the New Apostolic Church, Jehovah's Witnesses and the Seventh- day Adventist Church are represented in Neuried.

Attractions

Structures

  • The church in the village nursing home was designed by Friedrich Weinbrenner itself and built in 1813 ( and after destruction in World War II restored). It is one of the finest classical churches in Baden. Between her style typical smooth and jewelery poor facades and the environment rangy half-timbered houses an enthralling contrast ensues.
  • Also, the district has Ichenheim a church in Weinbrenner style, which was built by Hans Voss. St. Nicholas, built in 1822, is one of the most formal reduction pledged churches of Baden classicism. As the old Heimer church they benefited from the monumental effect clearly drawn structures.
  • Schutterzell has one of the rare simultaneous churches, which is used for both the Catholic and the Protestant church.

Mayor

Since 1997, Gerhard Bochert (CDU ) Mayor Neurieds. On April 28, 2013 Jochen Fischer was elected as the new mayor. His office, he entered on 22 May 2013.

Economy and infrastructure

Still plays a major role in agriculture and in particular the cultivation of tobacco. With about 470 hectares Neuried is the largest tobacco -growing town in Germany. The community has about 1,000 jobs at the site, which means that the majority of the workforce commutes to the surrounding cities of Offenburg, Kehl and Lahr / Black Forest.

Education

Neuried has five Protestant (three of them in old people's home, one each in Ichenheim and Dundenheim ) and two Catholic ( Ichenheim and Schutterzell ) kindergartens. In the district retirement home there with the Johann Henrich - Büttner - school is a primary and secondary school, in the district Ichenheim a primary and junior high school with Werkrealschule and one each elementary school in the districts Ichenheim and Dundenheim. From the school year 2014/2015 is no longer any reason students are newly enrolled in Dundenheim, the primary school in Dundenheim 2018 is closed. High schools are located in the nearby district towns Offenburg, Lahr / Black Forest and Kehl.

Geothermal

In 2011 a first bore to be set for a geothermal utilization project in the community. A possible use of the supplement was launched in 2007 biomass power plant as a hybrid power plant.

Traffic

The locations of the church today were treated to 1959 by the Mittelbadische railroad. Today Neuried has no connection to the German rail network. The community is connected by bus lines of regional transport companies with Lahr, Offenburg and Kehl. The vilage retirement home, Dundenheim and Ichenheim be crossed by the federal road 36.
